Coffee Paintings...Believe It or Not?

Sunshine Plata is a Filipino artist who uses coffee grounds instead of paint. While looking for a cheaper alternative to oil paints, she came across a 19th Century signature rendered in coffee at a Ripley's...Believe It or Not! Museum.

She became inspired and began to paint her own coffee art. She enjoys the unique aroma and eco-friendly nature of the "paint" and is able to control the gradations of color using different proportions of grounds and water.

Drinking Coffee May Lower Your Risk of Cancer

A Japanese study recently found that women who drink a lot of coffee have a much lower risk of developing uterine cancer.

In the study, women who drank more than three cups of coffee daily were 60 percent less likely to develop uterine cancer than those who had coffee fewer than two times a week.

This may be attributed to coffee's ability to lower insulin levels.

You Know You Drink Too Much Coffee When...

Here's a few of my favorite:
  • You grind your coffee beans in your mouth.
  • You lick your coffeepot clean.
  • You can type sixty words a minute with your feet.
  • You don't sweat, you percolate.
  • You've built a miniature city out of plastic stirrers.
  • You go to sleep just so you can wake up and smell the coffee.
  • You don't even wait for the water to boil anymore.
  • You soak your dentures in coffee overnight.

Got Coffee Breath?

Admit it, there are some days when your morning coffee is more important than your oral hygiene. But what can you do to get rid of coffee breath?

That's Fit featured an article with some great tips for freshening up after a cup of java.

Here's the deal:

1. If possible, brush your teeth and tongue to eliminate more odor-causing bacteria.
2. For a short term fix, a breath mint will work.
3. If there are no other alternatives, swish clean water in your mouth to rinse.

"The Bucket List" Increases Demand for Unusual Urns

2007's Comedy hit "The Bucket List" starring Jack Nicholson and Morgan Freeman has inspired a few people to request a rather unusual urn.

In the movie, coffee tins are used as urns for Nicholson and Freeman who pass due to terminal cancer.

Recently, Chock Full O'Nuts reported being contacted by several people who wished to place their own or a loved one's ashes in the "heavenly coffee" tins after watching the movie. People saw the impromptu urns as not only a chance to pay homage to the movie, but to save money on an often expensive urn.
